The mega Hornbill is one of the achievement for Rio ‘s and his government . Giving an avenue to youngsters to explore some of its hidden talent in this mega festival needs its applause. Traditionally, Naga people enjoy after our harvest but we beg Delhi for our own naga festival. Apart from this festival there are other tribal festival to attended by Nagaland government. Knowing who we are does not means we must become animistic. After the jauntiness and festivity, unemployment is still unemployment. (for instance, Government teacher result declared yet to get posting)Feeding all the tribal troupe for a week is not a problem but kindly go and visit all the rural area. We see our own people in pathetic condition. Naga people need leadership who know where to spent our fund judiciously and we must learn to teach our kids what Rupee ten (10) not what crores of money from other Indian tax payer paying for us. Any leadership who know what the value of money knows how to spend judiciously. Lots of funding we receive but Nagas funding have lots of wings floating in all the direction. Nagaland government send some of its representatives to New Delhi with a mask on their face and seek additional fund and enjoy afterward. This is a land of festivals (BAKI festival). One of the most popular festival in the country. We see only the beautiful side of this festival in newspaper clip.
People who know the value of money knows when to relax as well where to sow at fertile soil. Knowing one’s own culture does not means we have to be anti Christian, promoting one’s own culture might not consider sin. In order to promote its own political mileage Rio’s government some time step upon borderline as well goes beyond Biblical track. Many young people have gone haywire into immoral activities, and even churches have failed in this venture. Many naga people worship Hornbill festival. Our love for perishable is excessively high. Regarding our naga tradition and culture we must know where we came from and where are we today? Traditions are everywhere and influences almost that we attached. They have their benefits but it must not confuse with the Biblical authority. When our tradition and bible clash we must pave the way for scripture. We must not fail to recognized traditions as comfortable patterns, not God’s given instructions. Hornbill festival are elevated so high that we see God so small.
Naga people must know its own past and we should be thankful to God for transforming us from headhunter to Christ-hunter in this present context. Naga people first missionary was Miles Bronson, 8 January, 1839, after eight months of work he has to pull back among the hills because his family were sick and his sister Rhoda Bronson died. He wrote, “we could not but wept as we turned from the spot-bare footed, and leaving behind us no one to carry on the labors of love among the perishing people. He prayed, “O God pit this perishing tribes and dispose the board of mission to send them help.” His one convert died. So the church was to open in 1842 but it was delayed for 30 years in 1872. We should be thankful to God for calling us to be his witness.
Naga people need leadership who need real spade to work for the undeveloped area not just advertise for the newspaper clip. We need leadership who can do plan to give us basic necessity to live not seven days luxury. Seven days enjoying, drinking, eating, sleeping like a king. Not much but only seven days. Life goes beyond seven days sir! Naga people do not need leadership who overtly teach much about naga traditional and its custom because we are poor and needy after the festival, hungry people are still hungry. We need leadership who can sacrifices for us not eat us up like parasite. Any government which is too showy and make-up are too shallow are likely to be rotten inside. After the festival if it stinks and smell so much it needs deeper analysis by the NPF leadership. I pray that state government can concentrate into some higher and bigger in scope not just dancing around every Naga tribe festival, it’s policy of finishing strong is in festival but in many areas it have to see its fruits bearing. Nagaland state government leadership needs to embrace a higher goal that stretches beyond the limit. We expect state government leadership to know the time of the present context as well the teenager mentality but acting like them must be refraining as matured Man (BURA MANU HIOSHE DE). Dancing like teenager need to ask how they are leading us as responsible leadership of our state. We see many of them as fifty (50) or sixty (60) years old teenager. Lord have mercy upon us! “Woe to you, O land when your king is a child, and your princes feast in the morning.” (Eccl 10: 16) Martin Luther said, “Soft-minded individuals are prone to embrace all kinds of superstitions. Their mind are constantly invaded by irrational fears, fearing new ideas, it is the pain of a new idea.” Naga leadership and people must wake up.
In the globe map Nagaland is invisible, so naga leadership need to humble ourselves headed by our chief minister. Many of our esteem MLA have become, Member of Liar Assembly. The man who built Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew is one of the most important leaders of the twentieth century. He became the country’s prime minister in 1959.He had a vision for what Singapore could become. He envisaged a well-ordered in which each individual could enjoy freedom to the maximum extent. In another person’s had, such vision might have never realized. Lee , however turned his vision into a practical , long-term program of development.
Early on , for example he sought the advice of the Dutch economist Albert winsemius , who first came to Singapore in 1959 as leader of a united nations technical assistance board team. The story goes that wilsemius told Lee, “whatever you do, make sure that you have a clean city and country. People from other parts of the world do not want to do a business with a government whose municipalities are dirty.” Since lee had predicted his policy on the cornerstone of attracting foreign multinationals, he took the Dutchman’s advice. It worked.
Foreign investments and foreign multinationals drove Singapore’s economic development in the 1970’s ad 1980’s. under Lee’s wise ad far-sighted leadership, Singapore achieved its prime minister’s multifaceted mission. It has a transparent and corruption free civil service. Foreign investors have found attractive. Singapore provides ample, decent and affordable public housing. And it continues to expand its reputation as an international centre for high-tech companies and financial services that demand high standards I health and education. Today despite its tiny size, Singapore has a per capita gross domestic product (GDP) equal to that of Europe’s most developed nations.
Benjamin Franklin said, “I have lived sir, a long time and the longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of their truth-that God governs in the affairs of men and if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, it is probable that an empire can rise without his aid! We have been assured, sir in the sacred writing that except the Lord build it. I firmly believe this and I also believe that without his concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building, no better than the builders of Babel. Our project will be cofounded and we ourselves shall become a reproach and a byword down to future ages.”
God has move and there might be a change in wind’s direction in Nagaland. “And he changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings.“ Daniel 2: 21.This inscription cannot be far from us if we are always going against God’s will. Daniel 5: 25-26 said “Mene, Mene, Tekel Upharsin. ………God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it.” God alone can change the leadership of Naga in his time! Let us be more human not super-Naga-Manu. Let God be God and let us not worship festival this Christmas season. Let us think beyond seven days! Food! Water! Shelter !! Electricity! Road!
