The coming days may witness some relief from rising temperatures in Nagaland, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a rainy week ahead starting September 24.

On Monday, there were isolated showers, though both maximum and minimum temperatures were notably higher than usual.
According to the national weather agency, Nagaland recorded minimum temperatures 3.1°C to 5.0°C above normal on September 23. In addition, maximum temperatures in the state were also markedly above normal (5.1°C or more), it said.

However, as per the IMD, Nagaland will continue to face bouts of heavy rainfall starting from September 24.

The forecast suggests rainfall amounts exceeding 7 cm are very likely at isolated places across the state.

A similar weather pattern is expected to persist through September 28, predicted the IMD in its evening forecast on Monday.

The Meteorological Centre Kohima also predicted fairly widespread to widespread rainfall particularly from September 24-27.
