Dimapur, March 26 (MExN): On its first day of duty at Chumukedima Excise check gate, the Mobile Squad personnel led by S. KakihoYeptho IE on March 25 at around 2:50 pm detected and seized seven (7) cases of rum from a maruti car bearing registration NL 01C 3852.
The owner of the consignment, Aluto was arrested and charged under section 3 & 44 of NLTP Act ’89. “In order to check and restrict the free flow of alcohol and other drugs, the Excise checkgate at Chumukedima should be made permanent as the menace of bootlegging and drug smuggling is not only during elections but throughout the year,” said K. GhokihoYeptho, Superintendent of Excise Mobile Squad. In separate incidents, the duty party at New Field Excise check gate also detected eight offences. In this connection, eight persons were arrested and 180 bottles of assorted liquor seized. All the seized articles are kept in MS Malkhana for future destruction.
