Immanuel College celebrates 30th freshers’ social cum annual day 2024

A moment during the 30th Freshers’ Social cum Annual Day of Immanuel College held on September 13.

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 15 (MExN): Immanuel College celebrated its 30th Freshers’ Social cum Annual Day on September 13. Held at the college campus, the event was held on the theme “Unleash Your Spark,” and featured Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Kenesa Dawhuo, NPS, as the special guest.

In his address, Kenesa Dawhuo encouraged the attendees to channel their passions and aspirations into realizing their dreams. He emphasized that achieving a dream requires individual effort and focus. Dawhuo also addressed the challenges posed by advancing digital technology, warning of the potential for digital deluge, distraction, dementia, and deduction if not used wisely. He stressed the importance of making informed choices to benefit from the digital revolution while avoiding its pitfalls. Additionally, he highlighted the rising incidence of cyber-crimes and substance abuse among youth, urging students to remain vigilant and cautious against temptations and illicit activities. 

A key feature of the event was the Miss and Mr Freshers’ competition. The exhilarating contest concluded with Likhala Thonglaru and Aron N Tsangiao being crowned Miss and Mr Freshers’ 2024, respectively. Other titles included Mr Personality, awarded to P Yimlei Phom; Miss Congeniality, given to Keneingunuo Yiese; and Mr and Miss Ethnic, awarded to Omwang Konyak and Wangshimongla Jamir.

The competition’s judging panel comprised Joel Anthony, winner of Mr Dimapur 2024; Jime Shia, Grand Miss Northeast (Sterling) 2023; Temsutola Ao, Head of the Department of Botany; and Lunghilang Pamai, Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Immanuel College. The event also featured captivating performances from guest artists and students.

The celebration was divided into two sessions. The first session commenced with a vibrant traditional performance by the Sumi students. The formal program began with an invocation by Lanusangla Imsong, Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology. Kongmong Phom, President of the Immanuel College Student Council, delivered the welcome address, followed by an introduction and presentation by Dr. T. Imchanochetla Changkija, Vice-Principal. 

The freshers’ speech was presented by Sentinungla T Chang, and Moatila Jamir delighted the audience with a special performance. The session was hosted by Etilemla Ozukum and Ireikeu Newme, concluding with a vote of thanks by Japhet L Zote. The second session was compered by Wapangjungla Longchar and Imsuren.
