IMPACT 5000 by 18: Around 2500 participate in Zbto

Zunheboto, August 21 (MExN): A two-day programme on entrepreneurship, career awareness, skill building and livelihood was held for the youths of Zunheboto under the IMPACT 5000 by 18 campaign. It was attended by about 2500 people.  

IMPACT 5000 by 18 campaign is a five-year joint programme of YouthNet and Government of Nagaland launched in 2013. For the 2016-2017 Impact campaign, Quest Alliance, Bangalore and Accenture’s initiative- Skills to succeed have partnered.  

According to a press release from YouthNet, the first day programme in Zunheboto focused on school students regarding the various streams available when they look for colleges and how these streams (Arts, Science and Commerce) connect to various career options. Another group comprising college students had a session about the opportunities in entrepreneurship.  

The second day was a workshop for new start up entrepreneurs in Zunheboto and how problems can be looked as opportunities from a business acumen point of view. Various skill development programmes such as mobile phone repair, bamboo craft making, fashion design and job openings in retail, automobiles were shared with the drop outs/ unemployed youths. Various job opportunities available in Nagaland were also highlighted.  

The IMPACT 5000 BY 18 district tour will reach out to thousands of young people across all 11 districts, the release said. “This is a step to address the unemployment issue that is rising in Nagaland each day and an important step to empower our students to move beyond traditional professions.” YouthNet through their young ambassadors will also advocate with the local communities for clean and fair election, which it said, is the epicenter for any progress and development of the state.  

The programme in Zunheboto was supported by local partners ZTYO, Society of Aborigines, Green Club, SKK, ZTSU, and ZCCI.
