Wokha, March 8 (MExN): Over 500 rural women from 39 Sanis Assembly Constituency, Wokha district came together to celebrate International Women’s Day at an event hosted by Team ‘ImpactHer.’ 

Founded by Zanbeni Yanthan, wife of Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor for Agriculture, ‘ImpactHER’ envisions a world where every woman, irrespective of her background, is empowered to be a change agent in her community. “It strives to create a society where women in all roles – from farmers to professionals, homemakers to youth – are recognised as equal contributors, leading the way towards a more equitable, sustainable, and a vibrant future,” stated a press release received here. 

The mission of ImpactHER is to “empower women across all strata of society to become catalysts for change within their communities.”  Women from across 21 villages gathered to celebrate a day especially dedicated to them. “Many of the women participants were not even aware about International Women’s Day,” the release added. 

During the occasion, ImpactHER was launched by Mhathung Yanthan. The programme was attended by Zuring Madeliang, ADC, Sanis and Khiuzan Kaurinta EAC Sungro. Mhathung Yanthan and Dr Apeni Lotha, Rtd. Director, Higher Education challenged and educated the women to know their rights and celebrate their everyday achievements. 

The Co-Founders of ImpactHer are Thungdeno Mozhui, Rtd Project Director, Rural Development, Chibeni Patton, Rtd Addl Director, School Education, Yanbeni Humtsoe, Rtd CDPO, Social Welfare Department, Zujano Patton, Secretary, Central Nagaland Women Association, Ringo Odyuo and Mary Khuvung.
