Imphal, October 29 (MExN): The All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) has reiterated its demands to implement the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2012. Reiterating the resolution adopted by the stake holder in the Consultative meeting held on October 27 in Imphal, ATSUM informed that its parent organizations based in the Hills have started launching an intense agitation in the form of banning all national projects and economic blockade on all commercial items coming from outside the state w.e.f. October 27 midnight until the issue of reservation in admission is resolved once and for all. “We are all out for adherence to the ‘Rule of Law’ and therefore the core demand of the tribals is to implement the latest amendment Act, of 2012, HRD’s directive and intimation of the Hon’ble High court’s order Dated 26 Oct. 2016 passed in W.P.C No. 855 of 2016,” ATSUM stated in a press release. ATSUM has further warned all tribal students seeking admission in various PG courses to refrain from getting admitted “until the problem is solved permanently”. “Any student who violates this intimation will be termed as anti tribal,” it asserted.
