
Peren, Arpil 7 (MExN): The monthly district review meeting held at Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) office, Peren on April 5 highlighted the medicine Misoprostol which is to be used at the sub-centres.
Dr. Khrielasanuo, DPO, RCH /UIP said that Misoprostol tablet helps to control bleeding and early expulsion of placenta after childbirth. She gave a detailed explanation about the use of the medicine and when and how it should be given, according to a press release from Pezanguno Celine Secü, District Media Officer, CMO office, Peren.
Misoprostol, she said, is to be given after the child has been born and before the expulsion of placenta. In case there is delay in expulsion of placenta, the patient is to be referred to higher facility immediately, she added.
Dr. Khrielasanuo also pointed out that heavy bleeding after giving birth (postpartum haemorrhage, PPH) is one of the main causes of women’s death after delivery and thus the government is making the best effort to reduce maternal death.
On the immunization programme Mission Indradhanush, the doctor reminded that the focus is to catch the dropouts and the missed out children. She also explained about full immunization and complete immunization where many of the health workers still make mistakes, the release said.
Dr. M. Tiala Longkumer, Deputy CMO, who chaired the programme, exhorted the gathering expressing her appreciation for attending the meeting. She highlighted the importance of reporting formats and urged the staff to work earnestly and be responsible. She also informed about Mission Indradhanush which started on March 7 and will be carried out on 7th of every month till June 2017.
After the meeting, a short farewell programme was held for the outgoing Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Ngangshimeren. In his farewell speech, Dr. Ngangshimeren expressed sincere appreciation and extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the staff starting from the officers till the grade IV staff.
The meeting cum farewell programme was attended by District Program Officers, Medical Officers, ANMs, GNMs, Pharmacist, Vaccinators, CMO’s establishment staff, District Program Management Unit and Block Program Management Unit Staffs. The invocation prayer was said by Amenla, BPM Athibung Block. The programme also had special number by CMO staff. Speeches were given by Dr. Khrielasanuo, DPO, RCH /UIP on behalf of the officers and Iraklung, UDA on behalf of CMO staff during the farewell programme.
