Importance of small businesses, saving stressed at NYK Mon convention

Mon, January 30 (MExN): The NYK Mon conducted the District Youth Convention at the NPF Hall on January 28 where, Chumlamo Humtsoe, SDO (C) Mon, as the Special Guest stressed on the importance of entrepreneurship and saving.
Over 100 youths from various Youth Clubs attended the programme, informed a press release from John Makhabo, DYC I/C, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mon.
Humtsoe, in his address, talked about entrepreneurship and advised the youth to set up small businesses like tailoring, barber and cobbler etc, it said.
He also stated that people from outside Mon district earn enough money for their survival and have surplus money to send home and the Nagas too are talented and can excel over others, it added.
To this end, the SDO stressed that the most important thing is to learn how to save money for the future, and learn how to invest in economic generating activities, the release said.
He also called for changing mindset and style of living.
Makhabo in his keynote address called the youth to put more voluntary service for the development of the district and state while highlighting that NYKS is the biggest grassroot level movement in Asia Pacific region with 1.5 lakhs youth clubs affiliations, the release said.
Stating that NYKS is focussing on capacity building of the youth at large, he also asked the youth to take up entrepreneurship and provide jobs to other youth, it added.
During the event, Humtsoe also gave away awards to winners of cultural teams and sport materials to the applicants from youth clubs.
The programme was anchored by Phamnon, NYV, while the invocation prayer was led by Pangmei, NYV. A welcome address was delivered by Chingsang NYV while the vote of thanks was given by Hangpong NYV.
