KOHIMA, DECEMBER 17 (MExN): Food Safety Officials inspected hotels, restaurants, tea stalls and bakeries within Kohima town on December 17. In the course of inspection, three restaurants namely Jat Restaurant, CT Restaurant, UP Tea Stall and one bakery namely Bright Bakery were found to be in unhygienic conditions. The bakery was also found using advance date on cookies/biscuits and it was seized by the officials.

In this regard, the three restaurants and bakery were being served ‘Improvement Notice’ under Section 32 of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006. Thereafter, the food safety officials would be re-inspecting the premises again and if the Food Business Operator doesn’t comply with the directives, their Food Licence/Registration Certificate will be suspended, a press release issued by FSA Designated Officer Kezhangulie Yimchunger informed. 

Furthermore with the coming festive season, the bakeries have been informed to use transparent wrapping materials of food grade specially for cakes so that the product can be seen by the consumer.
