Imtiaz Ali launches ‘Salon-I Fellowship’ in Nagaland

Dimapur, June 19 (MExN): In the first of its kind, YouthNet in collaboration with Godrej launched the ‘Salon-I Fellowship’ with the aim of empowering women entrepreneurs in the area of beauty and wellness through life skills and gender sensitization.  

The programme was graced by Imtiaz Ali, Indian film director, producer and writer as special invite. Imtiaz who has made movies such as Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal, Rockstar etc., in his remark mentioned that the beauty and wellness industry is growing in the country and with more professionals participating it has helped entrepreneurs scale their business increasing their profitability and also employing more people. He also said that one should not rely on someone to do things for you and should be done by oneself not to be expected from outside. He wished the very best for the project and urged for more interesting and meaningful workshops in the days to come.

 Lezo Putsure, Director, YouthNet mentioned that YouthNet’s partnership with Godrej is only growing stronger each year and this year will focus on building leadership and entrepreneurship skills for the women entrepreneurs.  

Keneingunuo, a beneficiary of beautypreneur project thanked Godrej and YouthNet for providing the platform. The event was compered by Anini Nyenga, and a brief glimpse of the project was given by Moainla Jamir and a highlight of the project was presented by Velütalü Puro. Under the YouthNet – Godrej Salon-I Fellowship, 20 entrepreneurs now will have a 9 months journey of learning new skills as well as knowing business know-how.  

A press note added here that this project specifically aims at equipping micro- entrepreneurs in the space of beauty with up-skilling and help them grow and develop a sustainable business model.
