Former Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and MLA elect from 23 Impur Assemply Constituency, Dr. Imtiwapang Aier today called upon the people of Asetkong to unite as in the past and become an “asset for Naga people.”

Asetkong is one of the six ranges in Mokokchung district and the whole of it is encompassed by Impur assembly constituency, he said, adding the people of Asetkong in the past were respected for their unity and cohesiveness.

He said this while speaking at his thanksgiving programme at Senden Salang, Sungratsu village where well-wishers from Yisemyong Town Adhoc Committee and Mopungchuket, convenor of his election campaign committee T Meren Jamir, NPF 23 Impur A/C and NPF Mokokchung Division president Moasangba also spoke.

Aier declared his win in the recent election as an act of God’s providence. While thanking his supporters, he also said it was he who should congratulate the people for the win and not the other way round. Seeking the support of the people during his term as their representative for five years, he also assured that he would keep his “personal agenda” made during the election campaign with regard to working for economic empowerment of youth and women. For this, he urged the respective village councils in the constituency to share their ideas and extend their full cooperation.

The thanksgiving programme attended by a huge section of his supporters was followed by a mass feast and an entertainment extravaganza.
