A candle light service in loving memory of Mapuienla Longkumer was held at Babu Tzübo Amphitheater, Ungma village, Mokokchung on May 31.
Soyim Students’ Union (SST) President, Moatemsu Longkumer, greeted everyone present at the service. He thanked all those who have shown solidarity during the demise of Mapuienla through various press statements and releases. He urged the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) and Ongpangkong Students' Conference (OKM) to approach the Naga Student Federation and appeal and pressure them to help in nabbing the culprit at the earliest.
He further appealed to the Nagaland government to deliver justice to Mapuienla, a sister, a daughter, a good friend and above all a human. A time when justice is delivered even to animals, why is justice not delivered to a human being even after 7 days of her passing away. The SST President demanded the government to work ceaselessly to find and punish the culprit as per the law. “This outrageous cry will not be in vain, we will not compromise on anything until justice is served,” he concluded.
AKM General Secretary, Nekmi Longkumer, and OKM President, Limatongzuk Jamir, also spoke on the ocassion and stated that they will stand with the SST in seeking justice for Late. Mapuienla Longkumer and urged the law enforcing agencies who are working in the investigation to speed up the process so that justice will be provided at the earliest. The AKM and OKM shared solidarity by saying that they will stand until the end and until justice is given.
The lighting of the candle was initiated by Rev Dr Noklen Longkumer, Pastor, Ungma Baptist Church.
