In response to the article “Preference’ in Competition Exams”

We the Dimapur Aggrieved Candidates of Graduate Teacher –English (DACGT-E) are not against of any selected Candidates in particular but through your article we were compelled to clarify. Corresponding to ADV.NO.ED/EXAM/2010-11dated 10th Dec.2011.The first 1-5 explains the minimum requisite Education Qualification - Sl.no.1 for Primary, 2 for General, 3 for Science, 4 for Maths and 5 for English. There were 353 applicants for 5 (five) post in General whereas there were 238 applicants for 91 post in English. All learned General applicants did not apply for the vacant 91 post in English because they knew that the subject is entirely different and the vacancy is not meant for them unlike some General or other subject honours applicants with a musk fighting for English Post. It is very obvious that in every Departmental Examination it has certain criteria and norms; hence it is a Teacher Post where there is no deal of compromising with General to English subject or any subject irrelevant to specialization of subject.

For instance, a month ago i.e.24th July 2012, there was a media report complaining from All Nagaland School Teacher Association (ANSTA) , Tuensang unit that a carpentry instructor teaching Science and a Hindi Teacher teaching Maths, vice versa how can a candidate with General degree or other honours subject such as History, Education, Political Science etc. teach English subject. With regard to marks scoring many English honours candidates secured much higher marks in written than the so called selected candidates in oral interview which clearly indicates manipulation.

Obviously it has been mentioned that preference will be given to candidates with English honours/ Major or Post Graduate in English but there is no such self explanation that preference will be given if the candidates have tie marks neither in Corrigendum dated-13th Dec.2011. It clarifies the whole set of possessed degree i.e. Graduate in English. Please, don’t try to justify your foolishness and half-baked knowledge about the Education System.

It is so embarrassing that the general /other subject (s) candidates were allowed to appear the Exam for the English Teacher Post. In short it’s like promoting Proxy Culture.

We the DACGT-E would like to appeal to the NSF, DNSU, ANSTA, Head of Institutions, College body leaders and English Honours students of Dimapur and other districts to seriously ponder upon the above mentioned issue.

Lastly, the Education Department should understand our genuine cause to avoid mockery of Education System in the state of Nagaland at this Age of Civilization.
