Inavi village condemns NSCN-IM diktat

Dimapur, October 22 (MExN): Condemning the decision of the NSCN-IM arrived at “Gilgal camp” in April 2006, Inavi village has queried the underground outfit if it was not an outright attack on the rights and privileges of the villagers as citizens of the state.

“…we strongly urge the NSCN-IM GPRN to immediately stop carrying out your evil intentions against the innocent Inavi villagers; your partiality in governance and meting out unjust treatment against Inavi village is out-rightly condemned as it is baseless and meaningless” declared a note issued by the tribal community through its convener Tsunthruba Yimchunger and head GB Hevitio.

Pointing out the sequence of events, the Inavi authority mentioned of the “Gilgal camp” decision of the NSCN-IM. During those days, the note explained, Inavi village Tsuthruba Yimchunger and Yehovi Sangtam village existed and served as a “resting place” for the “national workers.” Inavi village has been in existence since August 23, 1995 and generously supplied rations and shelter to the cadres. Still, the outfit issued a ban on settlement in the State Government reserved forest of Intangki, it added.

If ban has to be enforced, the NSCN-IM should have done so without partiality but did not, the village said adding that the outfit supported a particular tribe and suppressed others. Buesumpuikam Zeliang village was exempted and much security and protection was provided to occupy and preserve Buesumpuikam village, it lamented. The village warned that if the NSCN-IM continues to have a “soft corner” for the said village, then it would be opposed till justice is served.

The village also made clear that Buesumpuikam village is not an exchanged plot of land as asserted. Terming the claim as baseless, Inavi village expressed knowledge that it is in fact a village belonging to Lilen Kuki village. If the NSCN-IM was keen to uphold the decision of “Gilgal” camp, why were the Buesumpuikam villagers exempted from the so-called eviction drive but razing Inavi village on September 29, 2007, it queried. “What is the reason behind supporting Buesumpuikam and condemning Inavi village which has the same status quo from the Government of Nagaland? Is this not an outright attack on our rights and privileges as citizens of the state? What has the NSCN-IM GPRN against Inavi village that has made them carry out such evil deed and inhuman action?” the village queried.

Demanding that the outfit immediately stop carrying out “your evil intentions” against Inavi villagers, the village condemned the partiality and injustice meted out.
