‘Increasing population and limited resources of state cause of concern,’ says ADC Wokha

Wokha, July 11 (MExN): ADC Wokha K Furhesie Nyuwi today said that the increasing rate of population is a concern to everyone while taking in to account the limited resources available in our state. 

He was addressing the World Population Day programme held under the theme ‘Healthy timing and spacing of pregnancies for wellbeing of mother and child’ at CMO Conference hall Wokha.  

Nyuwi meanwhile highlighted on involvement of local factors in implementing health programme while adding that the concept of this year's theme for Population day was best suited for the state. 

Theme speaker, Dr Thungchanpeni Patton, DPO (RCH/UIP) Wokha said as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, the theme emphasized on women empowerment to achieve population growth. 

She informed on the types of family planning methods available in health centres and sought the support of civil societies, line department and communities to promote family planning. 

Delivering the welcome address, Chief Medical Officer Wokha, Dr Zubenthung Kikon expressed gratitude to ADC Wokha informed that more family planning activities will be implemented in the days to come as part of World Population Day and Stabilization Fortnight in the district.

A short video on family planning activities in the district was screened by District IEC team during the programme.

The programme was chaired by Mhonbeni Ezung, DPM and vote of thanks was delivered by Oponthung Kinghen, Urban Consultant, NUHM.

Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, programme officers, medical officers, CHOs, Urban ASHAs and medical staffs participated in the programme.
