IMPHAL, April 25 (NNN): Indefinite bandh has been imposed along Old Cachar Road which lies under Tamenglong district from midnight of April 25 following the twin attacks by villagers on the commuters. Two vehicles including a passenger service have been dismantled by armed unidentified persons near Zoujangtek, a Kuki village, which lies along the Old Cachar road.
A DI mini truck used as a public transport carrying passengers bearing registration number MN06L-2908 and a hired jeep numbered MN05-4012 have been damaged by the armed persons. While the DI mini truck was attacked when coming from Khoupum towards Bishnupur at around 8:30 in the morning of April 24, the jeep was attacked the day before at around 7 am.
The driver of the DI mini truck has been identified as one James Kamei (28), s/o Kumar Kamei from Nungshai village but presently staying at New Lambulane, Checkon in Imphal. He was severely injured after he was assaulted by the armed persons, according to James Kamei while talking to media persons today during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club.
Regarding the other incident, the driver of the jeep identified as one Philip Pamei (33), s/o Gaithaorei of Nungshai village, was also hurt in the attack. In this connection with, the Nungshai village authority along with the drivers association along Imphal-Khoupum road has urged the concern departments to book the culprits involved immediately.
