Indefinite bandh temporarily suspended: SAPO

Kohima, March 31 (MExN): The Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) has temporarily suspended the indefinite bandh imposed within its jurisdiction with effect from 12 noon on March 31.

According a press release from SAPO, the unanimous decision to suspend the bandh was taken after deliberating with its Governing Body and Frontal Organisations  based on the Tenyimi Peoples' Organization (TPO)’s “Ultimatum on Manipur to withdraw police forces from Kezoltsa and request to SAPO to lift the blockade.”

It was also taken after “fervent request of Angami Public Organization (APO) to lift the Indefinite Bandh for upcoming 50 years Celebration of Angami Public Organization Golden Jubilee to be held on April 8, 2022, added the release issued by SAPO President, Kevipodi Sophie and General Secretary, Swelul Pucho.

However, it further underscored that the relaxation and lifting of indefinite bandh are only temporary measures.

If the Government of Manipur fails to adhere to the TPO’s March 29 ultimatum, the SAPO would be constrained to “initiate its own course of action, whereby the Government of Manipur will be held responsible, it added.
