KOHIMA, JUNE 8 (MExN): The Indian Army remembered Major David Manlun, Kirti Chakra (Posthumous) of 164 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) (Home & Hearth) NAGA (Parent Unit 1 NAGA) on his 3rd death anniversary on June 6.


A press release from the PRO, Defence informed that “the braveheart was martyred on June 6, 2017 at Lapa Village, Tizit, Mon District in a gunfight against ULFA (I) cadres only after having killed 3 of them.” “For his act of bravery against the surmounting odds, the officer was conferred with a Kirti Chakra (Posthumous) on August 15, 2017,” it added.


The solemn occasion was conducted with a wreath laying ceremony at Zakhama Military Station, Zakhama by Colonel Neeraj Sood, Shaurya Chakra, Commanding Officer, 164 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) (Home & Hearth) NAGA and at Tizit, Mon District by Brigadier Suresh Sheoran, Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal, Commander 7 Sector, Assam Rifles.
