Indian Idol concert on February 14

The Dimapur Sumi Students Union (DSSU) today officially announced the participation of 2010 Indian Idol Sreeram; and a host of other celebrities including Bhoomi and Mayang Chang at the Indian Idol Concert slated for February 14 in Dimapur. Bringing across the message of prevention and safety against HIV and AIDS, event convener Khevishe Sema told reporters at a press conference that the event is aimed at creating awareness on HIV and AIDS in Nagaland among youngsters.
In partnership with Nagaland State AIDS Control Society NSACS), the event will feature activities like blood donation, condom exhibition, Rose exchange and a jam session. The Indian Idol celebrities will also release a freedom from AIDS symbolic balloon. The event convenor said that DSSU aims to further provide a platform for talented Naga youths, by giving them an opportunity to perform on stage with the celebrities. As Manager Sony Music Entertainment India Private Limited, Suraj Rosario will also be attending the event, DSSU will moot for future Indian Idol auditions to also be held in Nagaland.   
A handout from DSSU further stated that, taking into consideration the threat posed by the AIDS epidemic to the lives of youngster in Nagaland, DSSU has worked out the pragmatic strategy by inviting renowned celebrities to join the noble cause on February 14, popularly known as Valentines Day across the globe. With this, DSSU aims to prevent teenagers from indulging in any immoral or unethical activities on Valentines Day; rather, encourage them to observe a meaningful day.  The DSSU has urged all organisations and individuals to extend full cooperation to the upcoming event. It also appealed to the State government to support and assist the DSSU in its endeavour towards building a better society.
The Indian Idol Concert tickets are currently on sale at the following locations: Popular Bakery (Circular Road, Purana Bazaar and Chumukedima), Universal Bakery, Ankit gift shop, Kitchen Queen, Plaza Restaurant, Bothra Sweets, Allvyn Hostel (Purana Bazaar), Boozy restaurant (Burma camp), Feel Sweet (Marwaripatti), 3rd mile bakery, Sam bazaar 4th mile, variety store (Diphupar gate), Rano Hotel (Chumukedima). The tickets are priced at ` 300 for couple entry and ` 1, 500 for donors. The concert will begin at 5:00 pm February 14. The event is being sponsored by Vodafone. The newly launched mini SUV Premier Rio has stepped in as transportation manager.
