The Indian National Autocross Championship (INAC) 2023 for ‘East Zone’ got underway at Agri Expo ground, Chümoukedima on October 27 as part of the 7th DMSC autocross rally. Organised by the Dimapur Motorsports Club (DMSC) along with support from the State Department of Tourism, JK Tyre and Federation of Motor Sports Club of India (FMSCI), the event will take place from October 27 to 28.
A total of 55 participants have confirmed their participation from across the North-east region according to the organisers, with the winners from each category earning the opportunity to compete at the INAC finals scheduled to be held in December.
DMSC President, Timmy Jamir mentioned that this year’s edition will feature five categories- above 1000 cc, below 1000 cc, SUV, rookie and ladies apart from the INAC.
A total prize money of Rs 5, 00,000 lakhs has been earmarked for all the different categories.
Event marred by poor coordination and unpunctuality
A glaring part of this year’s event was also the lack of coordination and unpunctuality shown by the organisers as the progress was delayed by more than five hours without any prior information. The programme, originally notifed to begin from 8:00 AM onwards, only got underway in the afternoon. This left several of the participants disappointed and annoyed at the inordinate setback, as told to this reporter.
A number of drivers also failed to submit their scrutiny papers, required for the commencement of the competition, on time adding to the overall delay.
