Indian Railway reaches new heights in infrastructure during last Financial Year

Maligaon, April 10 (MExN):  2017: During the financial year that ended on March 31, 2017; Indian Railway has performed exceptionally well in many front.   INFRASTRUCTURE CREATION •     2855 kms of new lines, gauge conversion and doubling commissioned. This is the highest ever. •     953 kms of new line commissioned. This is the highest ever. •     Entire meter gauge has been converted to broad gauge in north east region. •     2013 kms of electrification has been done (against the target of 2000 kms). This is the highest ever achieved by Indian railways. •     1503 unmanned level crossings eliminated. This is the highest ever. •     1306 ROB and subways completed. This is the highest ever. •     484 manned level crossings eliminated. This is the highest ever. •     750 bridges rehabilitated. This is the highest ever. •     45 freight terminals commissioned. This is the highest ever.  The average is about 27. •     658 locomotives were manufactured. This is the highest ever (last year 621). •     4280 passenger coaches manufactured. This is the highest ever (last year 3978). This was stated in a press release issued by Pranav Jyoti Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer.
