Shamator, May 21 (MExN): The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) launched its Shamator branch on May 20 at a programme attended by government officials, volunteers and community representatives.
The event was held with V Khamo, General Secretary of IRCS Nagaland, as the special guest. The programme began with a welcome address delivered by Athrong, SDO (Civil), Shamator.
Addressing the gathering, Khamo highlighted the humanitarian initiatives undertaken by IRCS Nagaland and encouraged people to actively participate in humanitarian service through the Red Cross movement.
A speech on the importance of blood donation was delivered by Kholi Dolf.
Chubatemjen, Deputy Commissioner of Shamator and president of the IRCS Shamator branch, also spoke on the significance of establishing the branch in the district.
Participants included volunteers from schools and colleges, apex tribal organisations, village councils of Shamator and newly selected members of the branch.
The programme highlighted various humanitarian activities and initiatives undertaken by the Indian Red Cross Society Kohima Branch and stressed the importance of volunteerism and community participation.
The event was chaired by Mekato J Aye, EAC Shamator, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Mhathung, Medical Officer of CHC Shamator.
The programme concluded with Community First Responder training for participants aimed at strengthening humanitarian services and community welfare in the district through the Red Cross Society.
