IndiBus Tour: Naga musicians to spread awareness on social issues

Our Correspondent Kohima | June 9   Twenty Naga musicians will be travelling on a bus to connect various educational institutions in Kohima and Dimapur on various social issues through the ‘IndiBus’ initiative.   The tour will start on June 10, with the musicians performing at various colleges in Dimapur and Kohima. The musicians will also spread awareness on various social issues. The tour will start from Kohima and reach Dimapur on Monday (June 13), informed Theja Meru, President of the Rattle & Hum Music Society, Nagaland.   This nobel initiative is a collaborative effort of Indihut and LifeInside and endorsed by the Music Task Force, Nagaland.   Meru said that Indihut is the biggest and first online music store in Northeast. It was set up by Yanpvuo Kikon and so far visited by about 3 lakh music lovers around the world.   Indihut, launched in 2013, strives to channelize the energy of the vibrant hidden talents from North-East and set them free into the global arena. It also helps in discovering new possibilities by reaching out to a global audience.   Meru stated that Indihut is doing a wonderful job of selling the Naga music and giving Nagaland visibility to the world.   Indihut has 151 registered artists with more than 350 original songs released online so far, with around 3.1 lakh visitors from 60 countries. Top visitor countries include; India, UK, Thailand, South Korea etc.

  LifeInside is an event management group and focuses promotion of the young artists. The organizers said that this time round they wanted to make a different platform through IndiBus where musicians will not only be singing but create awareness among young people.   They will be visiting various schools and colleges and talk about various social issues like women empowerment, cleanliness, clean election etc.   Among the many artists include Alobo Naga, Polar Lights, Shalo Kent, Zaza, Metet etc.
