DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 6 (MExN): The Naga National Council and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) along with Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) leaders celebrated 55th Indo-Naga Ceasefire Day on September 6 at Peace Hall, Chedema.
It was on this day in 1964 that both FGN and the Government of India agreed to end the armed conflict and sign ceasefire at the initiative of Nagaland Peace Mission constituted by NBCC, comprising former Assam Chief Minister, late BP Chaliha, Indian Sarvodaya leader, late Jayaprakash Narayan and a clergyman from England, late Reverend Michael Scott.
NNC vice president, L Kaiso in a short speech said the Peace Camp at Chedema was a gift from God and termed it is an “unshakable pillar between the Naga nation and India.”
