Indo Naga political issue: ‘Probably closer to solution’

Minister G. Kaito Aye graces Tsüngremmung Mini Hornbill Festival Mokokchung 

 

Mokokchung, August 2 (MExN): The second day of Tsüngremmung Mini Hornbill Festival Mokokchung 2019, held at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, witnessed a myriad display of cultural and traditional songs and dances. 


Minister, Agriculture and Co-operation, G. Kaito Aye graced the occasion as the special guest. He was accompanied by other minister, advisors and host of dignitaries, stated a DIPR report. 


Addressing the gathering and speaking on the Indo Naga political issue, Kaito said, “we are probably closer than ever to the long due solution. It is, therefore more than ever that we should show the world that we are bound by our sense of unity and collective priority of the Naga community which is a settlement that is honourable and acceptable that will bring a lasting solution.”


Kaito said by being a part of the event everyone is contributing to the preservation and promotion of our rich and vibrant tradition. He said Mini Hornbill festival is being held in every district of the state as an initiative of the state government to document, promote and preserve Naga tradition and culture. He said “while we cannot and should not forget our past, it is not the past that define us but we define ourselves to the world through our behaviors and actions, let us therefore rise above our insecurities and unite as one as we are bonded together eternally by our core cultural elements through our history.”


“Celebration of Tsüngremmung is more than just feasting and merrymaking, it signified unity within the Ao villages as it has a strong bearing on community building; he therefore called upon the Ao people, who are known as pioneers to once more come to the front, take the lead in bringing about unity in the Naga society. Let us take this occasion to seek the blessing of God not just for a bountiful harvest in our field but also for a harvest of peace and prosperity for which generations of Nagas have toiled,” he said.


Earlier, Minister, Rural Development, Metsubo Jamir shared the Tsüngremmung greeting while Alemtoshi Imsong, Chairman, Ungma Puso Menden shared the significance of Tsüngremmung. Welcome address was delivered by President Ao Senden, Chubawati Longchar, vote of thanks was proposed by DC Mokokchung, Rajesh Soundararajan. 


Cultural dance presentation from Chang Hoho, Lotha Hoho, Assamese cultural dance, Traditional song by the DBs and Traditional dance competition among the six Range of Mokokchung district were some of the main attractions of the daylong programme.
