Indo-Naga Political Talks meeting held in Manipur

Dimapur, April 29 (MExN): The Zailad Region of NSCN (IM) and Jadonang Brigade, Naga Army organized an Indo-Naga Political Talks awareness meeting at Aben, Tousem sub-division, Tamenglong, Manipur on April 26.

According to the MIP press release, the meeting reiterated to “support the ongoing Indo-Naga peace talks between the NSCN and the Government of India; to extend fullest support to the Collective Leadership of NSCN and the Talk Team under NSCN General Secretary and Chief Negotiator Th Muivah; to appeal to both NSCN and GoI to expedite the Indo-Naga peace process based on Framework Agreement of 3rd August, 2015, inclusive of Naga National Flag and Naga Constitution (Yehzabo); and that solution should be inclusive, honorable and acceptable to the Naga people based on the uniqueness of the Naga history.”

It was attended by over 300 delegates comprising of village chairman/secretaries, youth, women and church leaders from Hmar, Zeme, Rongmei and Liangmai tribes. Zemi from NC Hills, Assam, Rongmei from Cachar area, Assam and Rongmei from Jiribam district, Manipur also were present, it stated. 

“The meeting takes pride of the historical fact of the Naga political movement started in Tamenglong district by Haipou Jadonang and Heipei Rani Gaidinliu and the ongoing Indo-Naga political talking leading to the signing of the historic Framework Agreement. The recent visit of the Government of India’s interlocutor AK Mishra to Dimapur and even touching NSCN’s CHQ/Hebron was also discussed for proper understanding,” it stated. 

Meanwhile, Zailad Region Care taker CAO, DG Robert urged the gathering “not to be misled by misguided propaganda but to stand firm behind Framework Agreement.”
