
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 14 (MExN): Nagaland State Governor, PB Acharya today said that the ongoing talks on the Indo-Naga political issue “are yielding positive results.”
“The talks have become more purposeful, less ritualistic, more forthright and far more frequent. This shall bring peace and happiness for all Nagas,” the Governor said in a statement on the occasion of India’s Independence Day which falls on August 15. Peace, the Governor stated is a pre-requisite for economic growth and social wellbeing of the citizens.
The Governor also pointed to the need for developing areas like infrastructure and education while addressing challenges like corruption. The Central Government has a vision of a transforming India, he stated and listed out several central schemes and policies focused on reforming and modernising India’s infrastructure, industry, employment, financial inclusion, social security and improving national standards of health and sanitation. In Nagaland, the Governor stated that many initiatives for strengthening emotional integration have been started like medical camps, teachers exchange programme with special focus on border areas.
He meanwhile said it was time to free the country from some chronic issues and challenges. “We need a corruption free India. Corruption has been a long-standing problem in India and it adversely affects the country’s economy and society. Let our goal be fulfilled soon by making our Nation a corruption free India,” he stated.
On the education sector, the Governor called upon universities and educational institutes to add skill in the academic content so that youth will be employable.
Maintaining that the “strength of India is Unity in Diversity,” the Governor said that “India is a grand synthesis of cultures, religions and language flourishing together.”
Meanwhile conveying Independence Day greetings to all Indians, the Governor also expressed appreciation to the Armed Forces, the Paramilitary Forces, State Police and other organizations.
