Dimapur, February 4 (MExN): Five-day induction training for Urban ASHAs under National Urban Health Mission was conducted at conference hall, CMO office Dimapur from January 30 till February 3. During the training, 59 new ASHAs were oriented on the essential skills and activities of ASHAs, care and management of newborn child, common childhood problems and assessing a sick child, identifying and management of an asphyxiated baby at birth, diagnosing neonatal sepsis, management of Diarrheal Disease, and home-based neonatal care. In the practical classes, the ASHAs were trained to use weighing scale and thermometer on a newborn child, how to wrap a newborn child, and how to prepare a quick ORS at home. Resource persons were Chubala Pongen, Senior Programme Manager (Community Process), and Suponglemla, Urban Consultant Kohima.
