INFC Mumbai conduct free medical camp at Longleng

Longleng, April 25 (MExN): The three day medical camp organised under the initiative of the Governor of Nagaland, PB Archarya under the banner of Indian National Fellowship Centre (INFC) Mumbai at District Hospital Longleng culminated on April 25.  

A DIPR report issued by DPRO Longleng informed that altogether 521 patients were treated and 455 patients were screened for oral cancer by Dr. J Dugad, out of which 34.5% of population consumes tobacco and 23% of population has pre-cancerous oral lesions. Besides providing medical camp, Dr. Rohan Bartakke, Tobacco Treatment specialist along with Media officer, NHM Longleng visited the office of the Deputy Commissioner staffs and Superintendent of Police staffs along with five Schools namely Christ King School, Christian High School, Government Nyenching School, Government Higher Secondary School and Phom Lempong School under Longleng Town to spread awareness on Tobacco and it’s harmful effects.  

The Deputy Commissioner, Longleng John Tsulise Sangtam in his speech thanked the Governor and his team of doctors from Mumbai for organising such medical camp and awareness activities on consumption of tobacco and its harmful effects in a remote district like Longleng, where Health care system is not up to the standard comparing to other district in the state.  

The DC acknowledged that the doctors were having a hard time without proper rest for the last three days with their sincerity and efficient skills to cater to the medical needs of the people despite many short comings. He was optimistic that people of Longleng have avail the opportunity provided by the doctors. He also thanked the team of Doctor, Nurses and staffs of Medical Superintendent and CMO for extending their co-operation and all necessary help rendered during the camp, and the NGOs for providing all cooperation and support for the success of the health camp.  

Short speeches were also delivered by representative of Phomla Hoichem, an apex women organization of Phom and Dr. Sachin Manjrekar Physician. The programme was chaired by Dr. Thinuosatuo Mezhu SMO District Hospital, invocation prayer was invoked by Associate Pastor Tenhaü Longleng Town Baptist Church and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Toshirenla Medical Superintendent District Hospital. Folk Dance presented by Tangha Women cultural troupe and a special number presented by Chinglüng Phom were the highlights of the programme.
