"There is absolutely no development, no progress and no infrastructure worth its name in Nagaland," Luizinho Faleiro, General Secretary AICC i/c of Northeast states maintained today.

Addressing a press conference in Kohima along with Pradyut Bordoloi, Secretary AICC i/c Nagaland, he said that the Party will reach out to the people soon through door to door visit.

The two congress functionaries are currently in the state to carry forward to meet various “challenges that Nagaland is facing at the moment.”

After an extended executive committee meeting of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) here, Faleiro said that they have been holding interactions since yesterday with different frontal organizations of the Congress in Nagaland to strengthen the party.

Faleiro said that Congress party is seriously looking forward for reorganizing the party from the grassroot level by bringing in unity, discipline and consolidate the party from the booth to constituency to district and state level.

He said that Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari Gadkari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been announcing crores of rupees for infrastructure development of Nagaland but reaching Kohima by road was a bone-shattering experience.

For the last 15 years Nagaland instead of progressing forward is going backward, he said.

He said when Modiji is giving big statements of development and progress of North East, but Nagaland is a standing example of no development and no progress.

“Nagaland systematically is a salaried employee economic with no industrial growth, no development of any form,” he said.

He added that farmers are left high and dry with their produce not getting any market.   Transportation has become so expensive with the cost of petrol and diesel skyrocketing, he said.

Earlier during Congress regime, we had given transport allowance and special package for industrial growth.

Country suffering  under Modi's  ‘ache din'

Modi gave lots of promises but has withdrawn the package of incentives, he said adding that Modi has withdrawn the transport subsidy, special category status have been withdrawn, while 80-90% of funds used to be grants which has also been done away with while after the closer of planning commission the facilities of small states have also be removed.

“We have decided to promote the young leadership in Nagaland for which the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress will conduct special young leaders training programme at the grassroots to mould them,” he said.

On the promise of Modi for ‘ache din’, Fallerio lamented that the people are suffering and so the country is suffering, adding that the living cost is so high.

On Modi’s assurance to bring back ‘black money’, he said not a single penny has come but rather crores of black money has gone out from the country.

Expressing that under NDA government, culture of vengeance, vendetta and intolerance has been promoted with people being dictated on what to eat and wear, he stressed on the need to maintain the cultural harmony for the country to progress.

Fallerio also said that the Central government is not at all alive to the problems, difficulties and aspirations of the issue of North East considering the ongoing imbroglio of Manipur University.

They are bulldozing their ideas on the people of North East, he said adding that they are trying to take over the educational institutions and the universities and also the Supreme Court.

He said Congress has always and will continue to preserve the distinct identity of the people.

Modi removes NE's special category status

Bordoloi said Modi came to Kohima on December 1, 2014 for inauguration of Hornbill Festival, wherein he asserted that his government would strive to develop Nagaland and North Eastern Region.

He said after returning to Delhi from Kohima, he firstly killed the North East Industrial Development Policy given by the Congress government for development of North East.

“Modi also removed the special category status of the North East and 90:10 funding pattern and then systematically started throttling Nagaland and NE Region,” he said.

Congress is determined to strengthen the party’s organisation in the State to defend the aspirations of the Naga people by continue to work for reflection of the aspirations, dignity and honour of Naga people, he said and appealed the people to cooperate and support the Congress.

He also said that Congress during its 10 years in office did try to work out a solution so were the talks held with all sincerity despite the then interlocutors facing painstaking consultations with all stakeholders.
