Pfutsero, (Phek) | April 25 : Nagaland will soon be added with another Educational institution under the initiative of Tourism department, Institute of Hotel Management in Dimapur, which is expected to begin this summer June or July facilitating the Naga youths to acquire the knowledge at cheaper cost, also will get trained in various managerial sectors. This was disclosed by Parliamentary secretary, Tourism, Law & Justice Yitachu during the inauguration of Mini Tourist Lodge at Pfutsero this morning, managed by Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS).
Addressing the gathering, Yitachu shared the keen interest and the vast projects of the department, however he lamented over the casual use of government properties. He expressed his annoyance over the usage of government properties and said church property is the only property that is well maintained, he appealed to the citizens of Pfutsero to equally respect be it government or church and also appealed the gatherings to come forward and carry the message to protect government and public properties.
The parliamentary secretary said Tourism, in a big way is creating assets around the world which is purely a service providing centre requiring 100% people’s involvement. “Pfutsero Tourist Lodge is also an asset and the bold step taken by CWWS is something the department is looking forward for success story, entrepreneurship and as a challenge, the story will be taken to other districts as well,” said Yitachu.
Asserting that tourism as an industry worldwide and the only viable industry in the state, he instilled upon the gatherings, the importance of department and co-operation of the public which he added, “unless the people understands what tourism is all about, there will be no progress in the state, even if there are potentials.” He also added more that tourism department’s policy is to create infrastructural facilities and desires to hand over the assets to the unemployed youths who can earn for livelihood and can also contribute to the state economy.
Yitachu expressed his displeasure on hunting of wildlife, which Nagas cannot give up, “the preservation of forest is a step forward but we cannot stop hunting”, he said, adding that just preserving the forest is not going to help forest eco-friendly, “this is where we should contribute towards making eco-tourism in the state.” He also noted that, concept of healing tourism should be certified when any product is being made for selling and also delivered on the need to take advantage over the inflow of tourist which will help economic growth. Yitachu also shared his vistas on the transformation of Pfutsero lake, Mithun rearing, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Park, which will be interlinked in and around Pfutsero, also reminded the gatherings that literacy and civilization should go hand in hand, thereby not to give the chance the people from outside to look down upon Nagas as Nagaland literacy rate shows 80%. On the peaceful atmosphere maintaining in Nagaland, Yitachu extended the credit to Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, stating that chief minister is very serious in maintaining congenial atmosphere and developmental activities.
Deputy Chairman State Planning Board, Neiba Kronu also delivered short speech. Er.Toba Angami, Tourism department in his project report stated that the tourist lodge was constructed with the cost of 29 lakhs, however the shortage was taken care by Deputy Chairman State planning Board, Neiba Kronu. CWWS also presented Memorandum to the parliamentary secretary for appointment of peon and construction of bricks wall fencing of the lodge. Earlier the parliamentary secretary unveiled the tourist lodge monolith. The programme was chaired by president CWWS president, Neikhwepe-u Khalo while Vechulo-u Kanuo delivered welcome address. Vote of thanks was proposed by Neingupe-u Kazhie.
