
Kohima, December 12 (DIPR): The National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) – North Eastern Regional Centre, Guwahati, and the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) Nagaland today held a press conference at the SIRD Conference Room. In an interaction with the media, Joint Director of SIRD, V Shijoh, highlighted on the upcoming postgraduate diploma programme in Rural Development Management 2009, which will be launched by NIRD, Hyderabad. He added that a special module course with scholarship provision and other facilities would be availed for the unemployed youth/graduates of the north east.
A special course was deemed necessary so that the social problems relating to the NE region can be understood, and developmental projects and schemes can be implemented in an effective way. The course will also provide the management techniques that will enhance the understanding of the practice of rural development.
• Selection of candidates will be through entrance examination, group discussion and interview.
• Eligibility: A graduate in any discipline from a recognised University. Students who are in the final year and expect to complete all the requirements of graduation before 1st July 2009 may also apply.
• Reservations: Reservation for the SC, ST and disabled candidates will be made as per the government of India’s policies.
• Entrance Examination: Entrance examination will be conducted on 27 April 2009 in several centres across the country.
• How to apply: The prospectus cum application form can be obtained from the Professor and Head (CPGS) on payment of application fee of Rs.1,000/- (Rs.500/- for SC/ST candidates) by an ‘Account Payee’ Demand Draft drawn in favour of NIRD, Hyderabad. It can also be downloaded from the NIRD website www.nird.org.in. The filled-in application form has to be submitted along with the application fee to the Prof. & Head (CPGS), National Institute of Rural Development, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad – 500 030 (A.P), so as to reach on or before 29 February, 2009.
