Institutional heads of Peren, Mon attend MRVC workshop

Peren, August 20 (MExN): Workshop on Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) for institutional heads and head teachers of both government and private schools under Peren block was held at Peren town hall on August 18.   Dr Nukshisangla Jamir, DPO UIP/RCH highlighted the importance and objectives of the campaign, District Media Office, CMO office informed in a press release.  

Explaining the signs and symptoms of measles- rubella and how it spreads on children, she further briefed the roles and responsibilities of teachers and gave instructions on how to carry the vaccination activities, the release said.  

Jamir encouraged the schools to conduct rallies, painting activities and conduct parent-teacher meeting and teacher-student interaction and to submit the report on time.  

While urging the schools to conduct vaccination, Jamir also advised to conduct it in a conducive atmosphere, making the child rest for 30 minutes under observation after vaccination.  

She further called upon all the school authorities to cooperate, create intensive positive awareness as well train the staffs for a successful MR Campaign in the district. The program was chaired by Melenguno, BPM Peren.  

Under Mon block, MRVC workshop for institutional heads and nodal teachers was conducted at Council Hall, Mon on August 20.   A DIPR report informed that SDO (C) Mon, Chumlamo Humtsoe, who is also the chairman for MRVC, Mon Block requested all teachers to be a part of the MR campaign and ensure that no children is left unvaccinated. He also called upon the teachers to play vital role for the successful conduct of the campaign.  

DEO, Mon R Zayao Lotha stated that majority of the target age group of children are in schools. He further asked schools to maintain proper rooms and drinking water facilities and later advised the teachers to give proper awareness on the vaccine.  

MO SHP, Dr. K. Elizabeth dwelled on measles and rubella diseases, symptoms and importance of MR vaccine to children through PowerPoint presentation. Elizabeth also detailed on how to give proper information and instruction to both parents and children.  

MO, Dr. Kumkiuba; MO SHP, Dr Thungdeno Murry; BPM Mon Sadar Pongchai Konyak and SIS, Mon, Hongpe also spoke during the workshop. The programme was chaired by Co-ordinator SHP Mon, Mewang. 92 participants from different schools under Mon block attended the workshop.
