‘Intensive effort will remove backward tag’

Kohima | August 6 : Parliamentary Secretary Transport & Mechanical, Dako Phom today said backwardness cannot be removed by others but own intensive effort will remove the tag of “backward” from the society. The parliamentary secretary was addressing at the 8th Fresher’s Social of Chang College Students’ Union Kohima (CCSUK) held today at Red Cross Conference Hall, Kohima where he graced the occasion as the chief guest. The function was held under the theme ‘Striving towards change.’
The chief guest was impressed with the CCKSU’s Motto “Toil and Shine”, saying that shining is the product of hard work, “We are under the tag of backwardness, let us remove the tag through by striving so that the tag will be cut off from the society,” said Phom and urged the students to bring change in the society.
He also exhorted the students to abstain from the use of alcohol or substance saying that a momentary glee will affect education and will have health complications that will destroy the whole life. “Knowledge is power, but unless it is developed, it won’t be as powerful as you wish to be,” said Phom, putting in more that Nation/country needs certain people with versatile talent and reiterated to labor to bring changes in the society.
The guest on honor, Züngküm Chang, Ps to MLA & Advisor VGS, DBS, GBS Affairs, in his brief address congratulated the fresher’s for their achievement in the HSLC saying that learning is a continuous process and time is very important during students’ life and urged to overcome the challenges with courage and faith. Chang called for extra effort for better achievement saying education/schooling is just once in life and urged to give best effort to touch the life of the lower section in life. He also asserted that Nagas are known for hard work however system has changed and urged the students’ not to depend on others but to toil and bring laurels to the society.
Vice President Chang Khulei Setshang and Y Among Chang, additional director, Art & Culture also delivered short speech at the function. The programme witnessed melodious tune by Suchila, special number by Chongshen, traditional tune by Mrs Nyimang. The programme was chaired by H.Nati wile pastor CBLK pronounced invocation,  President CCSUK delivered welcome note while words of gratitude was said by executive chairman. Bangjung, Treasurer CCSUK proposed benediction.
