Mokokchung, March 11 (MExN): An intensive voter’s awareness campaign organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mokokchung in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Office, Mokokchung was held on March 9 at Sungkomen Community Hall, Mokokchung. 

Ajit Kumar, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, Mokokchung graced the programme as the special guest, stated a DIPR report. 
Addressing the gathering, the DC Mokokchung stressed on the importance to raise awareness regarding the voting process. He stated that it is important to know the value of our voting rights and to use our political power to change the social dynamics. 

Ajit Kumar asserted on the significance of exercising one’s franchise and to elect effective people centric leaders to usher in progress and development in the state. He also advocated on the importance of enhancing participation in the voting system to make democracy more vibrant.

The programme was chaired by Temjenzungla, NYV while Imtimenla Aier, APW, Sungkomen Baptist Church invoked God’s blessings. Talinochet, NYV delivered the welcome address and Nungsang pronounced the vote of thanks. Demonstration on Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) was conducted after the programme.

Meanwhile, in anticipation to the 18th Lok Sabha election, 2024 a district level meeting with all political parties was held on March 11at the DC Conference Room, Mokokchung.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Mokokchung Thsuvisie Phoji, presided over the meeting. He briefed all members present about the importance of preparing for the upcoming election and requested for enhanced coordination and cooperation between all political parties. 

He also stated that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will become operational once the election date is announced and hence requested all the political parties to strictly abide by the guidelines for ensuring free and fair election, the DIPR report stated.
