The Mokokchung Inter-Club Badminton Championship 2018 organized by the Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA) began at Indoor Badminton Stadium Mokokchung on October 18 with TJ Longkumer, Director General of Police (DGP) Nagaland as the chief Invitee in the inaugural function.
Speaking at the function, Longkumer said that sportspersons who excel in games and sports excel in all the other aspect of life too.
He said that parents should encourage youths to take keen interest in sports because when an individual becomes interested in sports, his overall personality also develops.
He appreciated the MDBA for including categories up to the youngest players to encourage and enhance their skills. He said MDBA is a nurturing body for clubs and young talents for the future stars of badminton.
Dr Wati Jamir, NBA Vice President; and Joint Secretary, Badminton Association of India also spoke at the event.
Er Yanger Pongen, Tournament Convenor, delivered the welcome address and players who represented in the Northeast zone inter-state badminton championship and other events were also felicitated during the programme.
