Peren, April 20 (DIPR): The Inter-Ministerial Central Team visited Peren on April 20 to take stock of the various disasters in the district. The team along with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) and the District Administration along with the officials of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) visited disaster hit areas in the district including the landslide areas below the new Police Reserve Peren, the road leading to the New District Hq, the landslide area near Samziuram Bridge etc.
Earlier, the team also interacted with the villagers of Lamhai/Dungki villagers over the lost of cattle during the last epidemics and the cyclones that uprooted the horticulture farms etc. At Peren, the town dwellers and the leaders of the Sardar areas thronged the informal discussion, which was arranged by the District Administration. EAC, Yanthungbemo gave a brief power-point presentation about the various disasters in the district and what the District Disaster Management Authority has done to mitigate the same. Various leaders pointed out their grievances ranging from landslide, mud-blockage of roads during monsoon, animal epidemic, uprooting of dwelling houses by strong winds and some floods and fire etc.
The IMCT team also interacted with HODs of different allied departments on what programmes and activities each department has taken up to mitigate the disasters. Meanwhile, the team assured the people of the district that necessary action would be taken up by the Centre apart from the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority’s programme. The team includes Dr. Manoharan, Director Dept. of Agriculture, S.C. Meena, Ministry of Finance, Mohit Verma, Addl. Director RD, Er. Sachin Kumar, EE Ministry of Surface Transport, Johnny Rongmei, OSD, NSDMA (Home), Kevimelie Linyü, Engineer-in-Charge, NSDMA. The overall programme was chaired by Zarenthung Ezung, DC Peren.
