The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Kohima, today granted one month interim bail to Director of School Education Nipusilie Angami, who was on Monday, arrested and placed under 72-hour remand by the State Vigilance Commission in connection with the case of ‘bogus appointment’ of teachers under School Education. A source said Nipusilie was arrested and remanded on July 6 for ‘intensive investigation’ and the court had granted permission to keep him under 72 hours remand. The source also revealed that the Vigilance Commission had arrested Additional Director of School Education Khetovi Sumi but released him after making him sign a PR Bond. The Vigilance Commission, besides investigating the ‘bogus appointment of teachers’, is also reportedly conducting physical verification of teachers and staffers  of the School Education department  to trace out bogus teachers. The state government had put the figure of appointment of ‘bogus teachers’ at more than 2, 000 which, it said, cost the state exchequer over Rs. 28 crore.
