
Longleng, October 12 (MExN): Longleng District Task Force, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) celebrated the International Day for Girls’ Child on October 11 at Local Football Ground.
According to a DIPR release, Deputy Commissioner Longleng John Tsulise Sangtam, in his keynote address stated that the purpose of observing the day was to show our love and respect to the girl children.
He therefore, appealed the mammoth gathering to show love and respect to our sisters and daughters both at familial and societal level.
The DC also asserted that daughters or girls, if given the opportunity can contribute their service for the wellbeing of the family and for the upliftment of the society. He further urged the gathering to shun all forms of violence and discrimination against women and girls.
Tutinungla, District Coordinator, MSK spoke on BBBP and appealed the girls to raise their voice against domestic violence and discrimination in the community against women and girls.
She also exhorted the gathering by sharing the great lives of noble women who have contributed their lives and service for love, peace, humanity and in nation building.
Voice of a girl child was proposed by the student of Christian High School.
Earlier, welcome address was proposed by Robi Sangtam EAC Longleng, Invocation by Phom Lampong School, closing remarks by P Phungla, WWO, MSK and the program was chaired by St Joseph School. Teachers and students from all schools of under Longleng, Government officers, NGOs and civil societies attend the program.
