
Noksen, October 14 (MExN): International Day of the Girl Child was observed in all Anganwadi centres under Noksen block on October 11. At Noksen headquarters, the day was observed at the Town Hall with all the Anganwadi centres. Public leaders, elders, women group, besides the Anganwadi children, attended the celebration.
In his keynote address on the theme ‘Girls’ Progress = Goals’ Progress: A Global Girl Data Movement’, Kenyuyhunlo, Supervisor, stressed on the challenges girl children face and the existing gaps in data and knowledge about the specific needs and issues faced by them, informed a press release.
In spite of their creativity and talents, they are often thwarted by discrimination, violence and lack of equal opportunities, it was highlighted. Therefore, the speaker stated, there is a need for increased investment in collecting and analyzing girl-focused, girl-relevant data so as to address the challenges and issues of a girl child, which also bring closer the fulfillment of Sustainable Development Goals.
The programme, which was chaired by Diethozo, Supervisor, also had short speech by Kekatemba, Advisor, Noksen Village Citizen Forum and vote of thanks by Anganwadi worker, Noksenkumla.
