
Dimapur, June 14 (MExN): Assisi Centre for Integrated Development (ACID) with the support of National Domestic Workers Movement and NDWM-Child Right Movement, Nagaland Region is observing International Domestic Workers’ Week.
A street play was performed at Super Market, Dimapur on the Rights of the Domestic Workers and their campaign for fixation of Minimum Wages. It was put up with the aim to spread awareness on the rising spate of child abuse and prevent the same and also to campaign for Domestic Worker’s Right and inclusion of domestic workers in Schedule Employment. Implementation of social security schemes, inclusion in the schedule employment were exhibited through poster campaign and distribution of the pamphlets.
Also in the Railway Station, a street play was performed by the members of NDWM-Child Right Movement. The aim of the play was to raise awareness about child rights, child related issues and the current scenario of children where their childhood rights, growth and development are deprived.
The children hold placards displaying messages like- ‘Do a favor, avoid child Labour’, ‘Children Should have pens in their hands not tools’, ‘ Say no to child Labor’, ‘Enough is Enough, Stop Child Labor’, ‘No to child Labor, Yes to Quality Education’.
After the play, Sunita Thabah called upon the people to fight against the child abuse in different ways and made them aware the four rights of the children like Right to Survival, Right to Participation, Right to Development, and Right to protection.
“Through these programmes, both domestic workers and CRM were given a platform to express their solidarity with each other and be the part of ILO in eradicating child labour by 2025 which was witnessed by public,” Sr. Pramila Lobo, Director ACID and State Coordinator NDWM said in a press release.
