Dimapur, April 17 (MExN): The International University, Dimapur in a press statement issued by the Pro Chancellor, Dr Utkarsh Sharma said, “this University has nothing to do with the principles of Hindutava.”
Refuting the allegations made by Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) about the naming of the Central Library in the name of Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the Pro Chancellor added, “Rather the University is dedicated to skilling the youth of the young boys and girls from Nagaland by conducting employment centric programmes in the areas of management, fashion design, naturopathy, medical laboratory technology, radiology and imaging technology, physiotherapy and allied paramedical sciences.”
The rejoinder also clarified that International University does not promote any religion but believes in the interfaith movement and accordingly the Founder Chancellor Dr Priyaranjan Trivedi had authored the 10 Volume Encyclopedia of Interfaith Studies.
The Pro Chancellor “reminded” the NPCC about Dr Trivedi establishing Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University, Arunachal Pradesh as he has high respect for her and accordingly planned to name the Central Library in the name of the Scholar Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar without bothering about his reaching.
The University has also planned to name other Departments and Blocks in the memory of the great Freedom Fighter from Nagaland besides bringing out a “20 Volume Encyclopedia of Christianity in Nagaland,” Dr Sharma added.
The Pro Chancellor reiterated that “the University has not promoted Hinduism during the past 20 years after its inception, but has certainly motivated the successful students to enter into entrepreneurial ventures besides contributing in the corporate sector with their managerial competence.” The University will continue to teach and trained the young boys and girls from Nagaland to become job givers, rather than job seekers, he added.
The Pro Chancellor also claimed that the “Central University at this University is equipped with more than 75,000 Books, highest number in Nagaland as compare to the Nagaland State Library having only 58,000 Books and Nagaland University Central Library only 44,543 Books.”
