International Yoga Day celebrated across Nagaland

Bethel Children Home observed 9th International Yoga Day in Tuensang town on June 21.

The 9th International Day of Yoga was observed across the state. In the state capital Kohima, Nagaland’s Governor La Ganesan joined 9th International Day of Yoga at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. Held under the theme “Yoga for humanity,” it was jointly organized by Department of Youth Resources & Sports and National AYUSH Mission, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, Kohima. 9th International Day of Yoga was celebrated at KV Dimapur with the participation of class I to XII students and all the staff members. Dr Sajida Siyahi, PGT, Economics, Rahul Debnath of class XII science and MH Shimray, Principal, KV Dimapur spoke during the function. Rito Deep of class X B and Hriddhi Nandan of class VIII B demonstrated asanas of yoga.


Central Bureau of Communication Field Office, Kohima in collaboration with Kendriya Vidyalaya Kohima celebrated 9th International Yoga Day at KV School, Kohima with Manish Kumar Sachar, DIG CRPF, Kohima as the chief guest. Yoga Asanas demonstration was led by Abhishek TGT, (P&He) Teacher KV Kohima, and quiz competition was also organised to mark the celebration. In Mokokchung, CBC FO Tuensang organised Yoga day at Rajeswari Karuna School Tuli. Among Aier, Teacher, Yajang High School was the resource persons while Lakshyajit Das, Yoga Teacher led the yoga demonstration.  Quiz competition, yoga demonstration were also conducted to mark the day.


NCC and Yuva Tourism Club of Livingstone Foundation International (LFI) observed International Day of Yoga in association with Livingstone Foundation Society and Breeze Women Welfare Association. The day was observed with a morning mass yoga session by the students and mentors, led by a group of LFI students of various grades. LFI Chairman, Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema exhorted the gathering on the health benefits of yoga . On June 20, quiz and essay writing competition was also held at the LFI auditorium on the theme ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. The winners along with five students who led the yoga session were awarded with certificates on June 21 during the yoga session by LFI Director, Ani Yepthomi along with the Chairman.


International Day of Yoga was celebrated throughout NF Railway. Yoga practice sessions were organised at headquarter, all divisions and workshops to spread awareness among the masses about the importance of Yoga and its effects upon human health. In NFR Headquarter, the programme was held at the Railway Indoor Stadium, Maligaon in collaboration with Art of Living, Guwahati Centre. Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager, NF Railway along with other senior officials were present on the occasion where railway officers and staff participated wholeheartedly with their family. In divisions, the day was observed at all important railway stations and offices.


International Day of Yoga was observed at Community Hall, Tzudikong Town, Mokokchung on June 21 on the theme ‘Yoga for Harmony & Peace’, organised by National Ayush Mission, DHFW Kohima. The programme was graced by the presence of Lt Col Ravinder Kumar and his Sergeant, Tzudikong Ad-HOC Vice chairman and committee members, students, staffs of AHWC Tzudikong, AWWs. Yoga Instructor Aosenla and Meren from AHWC Chuchuyimpang were the Yoga Instructors for the event. Various wellness activities were also conducted throughout all the AB-HWCs of the district to mark the day.


International Yoga Day event was organied by Integrated AYUSH Hospital, supported by Nagaland state Ayush Mission Society and National Ayush Mission, Nagaland led by Dr Sendongyanger, MO, IAH, Dimapur. Sachin Jaiswal, IAS Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur was the chief guest. Yoga demonstration was led by Tiatemsu Ao, Yoga instructor. 


International Yoga Day – 2023 was observed at Nagaland University, Lumami with around around 150 participants including Director CDC, officers, faculties, staffs and students have celebrated this auspicious day. The event was graced by Prof Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor as chief guest and N Albert Khizho, Finance Officer as guest of honour. Certificates were awarded to the participants of the workshop organised by Nagaland University & IUCYS Bangalore on the topic ‘Yoga Brings Health & Happiness’ during June 12 to 20.
