Guwahati, June 21 (MExN): The eight International Yoga Day (IYD-2022) was celebrated throughout the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) with practice sessions at headquarters, all divisions and workshops to spread awareness the importance of Yoga, on official release informed. The theme for IYD–2022 was “Yoga For Humanity”.
As per the release, the central programme of the NFR was organised at the Batasia loop of the well-known Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where Darshana Jardosh, the Union Minister of State of Railways and Textiles was the chief guest. NFR General Manager Anshul Gupta and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
Around 200 people, including school children, CISF, CRPF, HMI, railway officials etc., participated in the live Yoga practice along with the Union Minister at the event celebrated at the backdrop of the snow-capped Mount Kanchanjunga, it added.
Speaking on the occasion, the MoS emphasised on the need for Yoga practice on everybody’s life and endorsed its ability of bring about peace and harmony in the world.
Earlier, the event started by listening to the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, via live video link to the IYD event in Mysuru, Karnataka, the release said.
In the NFR Headquarters, the IYD programme was held at the Railway Indoor Stadium, Maligaon while it was observed at all important railway stations and offices, it added.
