Investiture ceremony held at Sainik School Punglwa

Peren, April 23 (MExN): Investiture ceremony of Sainik School Punglwa for the academic session 2018-19 was held on April 23 at the school premises.  

A total of 40 cadets were reposed with the responsibility of school appointments, House Captains and Vice Captains, informed a press release from the school. They pledged to discharge their responsibilities honestly, sincerely and to the best of their abilities. They also promised to display dignity, integrity, discipline, leadership approach and be role models to all cadets, the release stated.  

It noted that the investiture ceremony signifies the reliance and confidence that the school consigns in the newly invested cadets. The cadets were selected for the appointments after undergoing through a detailed selection process and considering their overall performance in various fields such as academics, sports, discipline, officer like qualities and leadership qualities shown in school and house activities, it added.  

Colonel Nishit Murat Singh Thakur, Commanding Officer of 36 Assam Rifles, Jalukie, who was the chief guest, motivated the cadets saying being in an institution like Sainik School is a matter of pride and privilege. He exhorted them to endeavour and be a person who can stand at all testing times. Thakur further urged them to accept challenges and have good thoughts that bring optimism, creativity and magnanimity.  

Post ceremony, the chief guest presented a motivational lecture to the cadets wherein he stressed to follow the school’s rules and regulation. He encouraged them to fulfil the goals of the school.  

Further, Major NS Angami, an officer from Nagaland and an alumnus of Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun and National Defence Academy (NDA) also motivated the cadets by sharing his life experiences in the Army. He advised them to have a focused approach to one’s goal, i.e., NDA and added that there is no space for weakness in armed forces, according to the release.
