The Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung has given three days to Changki Village council to revoke an order for expelling three individuals from Changki Village. It would be in the interest of the respected Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung to note that a person and all his offspring’s were expelled from Ungma Village some years back for an indefinite period in connection with a murder case that took place within Ungma Village. The order in case was executed as per customary law of our land.
Though the case in Changki Village is in no way related to any murder case, Abhishek Singh should by now know that there is a law in Nagaland called customary law which is recognized by the Supreme Court and the President of India. Every village has a right to exercise its recognized set of customary laws within the village jurisdiction. Though Abhishek Singh is the head of administration of the district, it would be in his own interest not to poke his nose into affairs in which he is not well acquainted with. It is most unfortunate that he has not learnt his lesson from the mistake when he almost created a permanent rift between GBs and Mokokchung Town Ward Chairman and Executive members. Or is he being forcefully dictated to, by a sitting MLA and a semi-retired politician outside the state?
