JAC of NPPCL workers to go ahead with Aug 12 protest

TULI, AUGUST 8 (MExN): The Joint Action Committee (Workers Union and Pensioners’ Union) of the Nagaland Pulp and Paper Co Ltd (NPPCL) has decided to go ahead with its protest along the NH-61 Tzudikong, Mokokchung on August 12. In a representation to the Chief Secretary, the JAC informed that decision to hold the protest was taken because workers of the NPPCL have not been paid salaries since August, 2017. Further, it stated that the superannuated/retired employees and employees who died in harness have not been given terminal/retiral/pensionary dues from October 2015. Despite numerous pleas, the JAC said no effective steps have been taken by the concerned authorities. The JAC informed that the protest/bandh will continue till their grievances are addressed. However, vehicular movement of military, para military, police, administration, medical, press and vans carrying milk will be exempted from the bandh.
