Dimapur, May 9 (MExN): MLA and Chairman, Development Authority Nagaland (DAN), Jacob Zhimomi, visited the campus construction site of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Nihokhu village on Wednesday and conducted spot verification of the on-going works, accompanied by DAN officials V. K. Pathak, Executive Engineer and Noleto Visa, Executive Officer.
Later interacting with the contractors, Jacob showed keen interest for timely completion of the works. Stating that he would not compromise on the workmanship quality, he reminded the contractors to hand over the campus to the school management by the beginning of this academic session which starts in the month of June. DAN is the nodal agency of the JNV Nihokhu project.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalays are an autonomous body that functions under the department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development and came into inception in 1986 with a plan to be set up in all the districts of the country in order to provide quality education to the children with special talents belonging to rural areas. JNV Nihokhu is emerging as one of the best schools in the area.
Jocob thanked Ghosuho Zhimomi, Chairman, Nihokhu Village Council and the village in general for donating the land to establish the school seven years ago. He was of the view that other villages should follow-suit the noble venture of Nihokhu in order to bring more development and progress to the area.
Also visiting properties and other projects under DAN, Jacob cautioned that he would not allow any discrepancies in the department and to remove any unauthorised activities or illegal encroachment within the property of DAN.
Meanwhile, expressing concern for peace to prevail in all sections of society, MLA Jacob condemned the Dimapur shooting incident of May 6. He said such cowardly act disturbs the peace and security of the people and also hampers the developmental activities. He appealed to all peace loving citizens to denounce such act which only destroys the society.
