Imphal, November 6 (MExN): The 14th Jadonang Memorial Football Tournament, organised by the Zeliangrong Football Association (ZFA), will conclude with the “Closing Ceremony cum Final Match” on November 8 at the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Imphal East. The final match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm between Sawombung (SKYC) and Namthanlong (NYC).
According to the ZFA, the event will be graced by N. Biren Singh, former Chief Minister of Manipur and MLA of Heingang Assembly Constituency, as the Chief Guest. Govindas Konthoujam, former Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports and MLA of Bishnupur AC; Kh. Joykisan Singh, MLA of Thangmeiband AC; and Sapam Kunjakeswar (Keba) Singh, MLA of Patsoi AC, will attend as Guests of Honour.
The function will be presided over by G. Aguilung, President of the Zeliangrong Football Association, while Dinganglung Gangmei, IAS (Retd.), Chairman of the Hill Areas Committee and MLA of Nungba AC, will serve as Chief Host and also as Chairman of the Organising Committee.
A total of 36 teams from different Zeliangrong villages participated in this year’s tournament. The closing ceremony will feature a range of activities, including an evening of music and cultural performances by Zeliangrong artists, an exhibition match between “Zeliangrong Officers” and “Zeliangrong Film Forum,” traditional dance, a tug-of-war competition, and the prize distribution ceremony.
The winner of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and a trophy, while the runners-up will receive Rs 1 lakh and a trophy. Group awards include “Best Disciplined Team” and “Best Parade Team,” while individual awards will be presented for “Best Player,” “Best Keeper,” and “Top Scorer.” Cash prizes of Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 along with trophies will be awarded to group and individual winners respectively.
